Mangshan National Forest Park is located in the south of Yizhang County, Chenzhou City, at the north foot of the Nanling Mountain Mountains, and adjacent to Ruyuan, Lianzhou and Yangshan in Guangdong Province in the east, west and south. There are more than 150 peaks more than 1000 meters in Mangshan. The highest peak, "Mengkeng Stone", is about 2000 meters above sea level, known as "the first peak in the south of China". The Changle River in the mountains is one of the birthplaces of the the Pearl River. The terrain within the scenic area is complex, and the unique cliffs, strange rocks, and water colored sky create a magnificent and beautiful landscape of Mangshan. There are several scenic spots within the area, including General's Village, Tiantai Mountain, Guizi Village, Yazi Stone, and Monkey King Village.
The terrain of Mangshan slopes from southeast to northwest, which is quite rugged and has a large relative height difference, usually 500-800 meters, with a maximum height difference of 1400 meters. Standing on the main peak of Mengkengshi, known as the highest peak in southern China, one can take in a panoramic view of the mountains and see Hengyang to the north and Shaoguan to the south. The Mangshan Botanical Area is rich in ancient plant species and belongs to a well preserved area of the Tertiary forest. It is a "refuge" for ancient plants, with precious plants such as white bean fir, spike fir, long bract hemlock, southern hemlock, southern yew, and centenaria distributed in large groups.
The scenic area is very large, and if you want to visit the entire scenic area, it will take at least 2 days. Tourists can return to the county town for accommodation and then enter the scenic area for sightseeing the next day. There are shuttle buses in the scenic area, with a fare of about 60 yuan per person. The shuttle buses are not managed by the scenic area and are contracted by other tourism companies. According to some tourists' feedback, in order to increase business, the shuttle buses will urge tourists to quickly visit various sub scenic areas, and the interval between each bus is also relatively long.
